![]() ![]() The ending was way too After School Special for me. Ledger and Kenna never made sense or felt like the real deal to me. The writing was good, but I think that Hoover tried too hard with this one. The other character in this one, Scotty, felt the most real to me when I was reading. When Hoover tries to turn things a bit I still went, yeah nope. When you find out what is going on and what happened, my sympathy was at like zero. I don’t get why he cared about Kenna and I rolled my eyes about it. But that is until Ledger finds out who Kenna is and her ties to someone he loves. Ledger apparently feels something immediately for Kenna (yeah insta-love….again). Walking into a bar she ends up running into a man named Ledger. ![]() Kenna struggles though with letting go of her boyfriend Scotty. Kenna moves back to a town where her daughter lives (Deim). “Reminders of Him” follows Kenna who is out of prison after 5 years. I think this was Hoover wanting to make things force fit a happy ending. Kenna Rowan is one of the more memorable protagonists I’ve had the pleasure of meeting this year, and her arduous road bears. Also when we are finally told about “that night” I called BS on a few things and it didn’t make any sense. Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover is a deeply-touching and thought-provoking work of literature and fiction, one poignantly exploring the subject of being a social pariah in search of forgiveness. ![]() And due to how Hoover allows us to see Kenna and Scotty’s relationship, it felt more real and believable to me than whatever this mess was between Ledger and Kenna. The love story is not between the characters of Ledger and Kenna. ![]()
